In this era of Virtual working, one of the most common mode of communication for employees is Instant Messaging through MS TEAMs, Skype, IBM Sametime etc...

Recently, I see people reaching out to their peers or sub-ordinates for some information on Instant Messaging and the communication stops as soon as the other person provides the requested information.  

As a basic etiquette of communication, the person who asks and receives the information should acknowledge and thank the other person. It is an expected courtesy to spend few more seconds saying, “Thank You” and close the communication loop.

We need to understand, even though people are virtually connected, they are literally isolated with no Cabin talks, no team lunch, no coffee breaks, and most importantly without those smiling faces that welcomes them every day to the office.

Please take few more seconds to acknowledge and appreciate the work your peers, sub-ordinate, and your management in this tough time.
